Shay Mitchell is Canadian actress,model and entrepreneur. Her most well-known character is Emily Fields on the Freeform show Pretty Little Liars. Following her successes with modeling, dance and acting she decided to take acting lessons. Mitchell landed some commercials as well as acting roles as a guest in TV shows. Her breakthrough came but it was when she performed Emily Fields' role in Pretty Little Liars. The show was highly praised for its talents by critics as well as viewers. The popular actress later gained a reputation on the screen in films like DreamlandMother's Dayand The Possession of Hannah Grace. The role she played as a psychological thriller in the series You that brought her wider fame. In addition to acting, she dabbled in writing. Along with Michaela Blaney she wrote an adult book titled Bliss. Shay Mitchell, born April 10, 1987 in Ontario, Canada, was raised by her grandparents Mark Mitchell, and Precious Garca. Her mother was born in the Philippines while her father was of Irish as well as Scottish heritage. The cousin of Mitchell's has the name of Lea Salonga who is a famous musical theater performer and actress. As a child, Mitchell attended Rockridge Secondary prior to transferring to West Vancouver Secondary School. Mitchell was already modeling around the globe by her late teens. She traveled to Barcelona Bangkok Hong Kong before getting back to Toronto and pursuing her studies in modeling in Toronto.
